Why Boulder Day Nursery

Boulder's first child care center and nonprofit organization was the only option for working families back in 1917. Today it remains one of the best options in Boulder County for families who need quality care for their children. It is one of precious few centers who provide that care on a sliding scale so as to make it accessible to families who could benefit from it the most, but are the least likely to be able to afford it in other settings.

When you attend or support Boulder Day Nursery, you join a family of diverse stakeholders that spans nine decades. This family not only recognizes the importance of the care we provide, but the leadership role we’ve played in Boulder County and the state for children, families and poverty issues.

And speaking of diversity, it’s been built right in to our mission from the start. Providing an experience and element of culturally proficient care, where our families can see themselves reflected in the care they receive is important to us. But another element that is all too easy to overlook in Boulder County is socio-economic diversity. While most of our families come from households with lower incomes, not all of them do. Boulder Day Nursery brings families from both ends of the socio-economic spectrum together in an environment where income doesn’t matter, and in a way that doesn’t happen all that often anymore in Boulder.

Not only does Boulder Day Nursery take care of and advocate for children and families, it also plays a big role in keeping Boulder County a sustainable place to live and work.
