Your gift to BDN is 100% tax deductible AND eligible for the Child Care Contribution Tax Credit. For example: a donation of $1000 gets the usual Federal tax deduction, PLUS you'll receive $500 back from the state at tax time.

One-time Donation

Stock Transfers

Stock and asset transfers can provide a tax-wise way to support our community and in some cases, avoid capital gains. After BDN receives your form and the donation of securities is confirmed by our broker, we will issue an official acknowledgement letter to the donor. This letter will indicate the number and type of shares received and date the stock was converted into a gift (day when record ownership of stock was transferred to BDN or the stock was unconditionally delivered to BDN).

Tributes

Tributes enable you to remember and honor special people in your life. Your gift will be included in all publications of our donor lists with the name of the person whom you have selected for your special tribute. In addition to your acknowledgement letter, a letter will be sent to the recipient as notification of your gift. Make check payable to BDN and mail to: BDN Attn: Bethany Burns 1518 Spruce Street Boulder, CO 80302 or donate online  as directed above.

Employer Matching

Employer gift matching enables your donation to be doubled, even tripled. A simple process that involves completing a form from your personnel department and including it with your BDN donation form. Then we take care of the rest!

Check with your employer to find out if they have a matching gift program and about their policy on matching gifts. Many companies also match gifts from spouses and retired employees. For more information, please contact Bethany Burns: bethany@bdnschool.org / 303.442.7605 ext.5.

Steps for Employer Gift Matching:
Complete the matching gift form from your employer using BDN's Tax ID # 84-0446349
Make check payable to BDN and mail form and payment to:
BDN Attn: Bethany Burns
1518 Spruce Street
Boulder, CO 80302

(If you’ve made a contribution to BDN and are within the time limit set by your company, you can send us the forms to ensure your contribution is matched.)

Legacy Gifts

Advantages of leaving a Legacy:

  • Charitable bequests can significantly reduce and even eliminate estate taxes

  • Providing affordable and accessible childcare for all families is a long-term process. Naming BDN as a beneficiary ensures that your resources support your vision of a better community for future generations

LEAVE A LEGACY

Name BDN as a beneficiary in your will.

GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE & ENDOWED FUNDS

Gifts of real estate, and endowed funds are accepted within the policies approved by BDN Board of Directors.

TRUSTS

A trust is a planned gift that can be designed to benefit both you and BDN. Along with an immediate income tax charitable deduction, you can assure an income for yourself for life. After that, we are allowed to use the remaining funds for our programs. To know which vehicle would be best for you, we recommend that you consult with appropriate legal and financial counsel.

GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE

You can name BDN as a primary beneficiary of your life insurance policy or as a contingent beneficiary, should your primary beneficiary not survive you. After your lifetime, the benefits from your policy pass to BDN free of federal estate tax. A gift of life insurance is a powerful option for younger donors who want to make a significant contribution, or for people whose estate won’t have substantial assets to distribute to non-family members.

Bequests

Bequests are fully deductible from estate taxes for the amount of a cash bequest or the market value of other assets donated. The gift may consist of a share of the estate or it can be outright or in a trust. You can make a bequest for a designated purpose, or it can be unrestricted. To leave a gift in your will or trust, simply share this sentence with your attorney: “I bequeath to BDN, a non-profit corporation located in Boulder, Colorado, with Federal Tax ID # 84-0446349, the sum of _______; or _______% of my estate; or the following property _______; or the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate.”

In-Kind Gifts

We gratefully accepts in-kind donations of auction items year-round for classroom space, services and our fundraising events. We do not have storage space to warehouse other items, but we would be pleased to hear of any potential in-kind gift to see if we can find an immediate home for it.

All contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent provided by law. Please contact your tax advisor for complete tax deduction rules. For more information on any of these gift-giving options, please contact Bethany Burns: bethany@bdnschool.org / 303.442.7605 ext.5
